Author's Alley

Author's Alley is a place where tables are provided for Authors who may, for free, sell their books and meet with fans. You must be a member of Readercon to sit in Author's Alley. (If you are not already signed up to be a program participant, you must buy at least a day membership during your assigned day.)

Authors will be assigned half of a six foot long table and a 2 two hour time slot. This means you will likely be sharing the table with another author.  The table may be inside the Bookshop or in the unsecured ballroom lobby.

We expect there to be more requests than available slots, so we are first taking applications. We'll be giving priority to our program participants, and then accepting other applicants.

If you intend to sell any of your books, you are required to collect and report sales tax on all items sold. There are two options available to you for tax reporting. If you wish to incorporate, you can establish an Massachusetts Tax ID, or you may report under your social security number. If you wish to create a Massachusetts tax ID number, you must register online with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue (click on the box labeled "Register your business with MassTaxConnect”) or call (617) 887-6367 for instructions. Once you've applied and been provided with this number, it doesn't expire. Or, as an individual author, you can use your SSN as your MA Tax ID if you've not incorporated as a business. Please indicate your intent to do this on the form but don't provide us your SSN.
