Thea Prieto is the author of From the Caves, which began at the Tin House Summer Writers Workshop before it won the Red Hen Press Novella Award, the INDIES Book of the Year Award for Literature, the First Horizon Award, the Eric Hoffer Award, and it was long listed for the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. Her writing has appeared in Poets & WritersThe Kenyon Review, LongreadsCRAFT Literary Magazine, New Orleans Review, and The Masters Review, among other journals, and she edited Stranged Writing: A Literary Taxonomy, which is a multimedia anthology of defamiliarized creative writing. She is a recipient of the international Edwin L. Stockton, Jr. Award, the Laurels Award Fellowship, and an artist grant from the Oregon Arts Commission. She teaches creative writing and publishing at Portland State University and Portland Community College, and she also prunes orchards and vineyards and herds sheep seasonally in Northern California.
