Amanda Downum is the author of The Necromancer Chronicles: The Drowning City (2009, Orbit: Gemmell Morningstar finalist), The Bone Palace (2010, Orbit: Tiptree Award finalist), Kingdoms of Dust (2012, Orbit); Dreams of Shreds and Tatters (2015, Solaris); and The Poison Court (2019). Her collection of short fiction, Still So Strange (2018, Chizine) was a finalist for the 2019 World Fantasy Award.
Not content with armchair necromancy, she is also a licensed mortician. Her non-fiction column “Ask a Necromancer” appears monthly in The Deadlands magazine. She lives in the DC Metro area with an invisible cat. She can often be found haunting graveyards at night, in a perfectly legal sort of way.
