Miriam Newman is an editor at Candlewick Press, where she edits primarily middle-grade and young adult science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, and mysteries. Books she's edited at Candlewick include Amy Rose Capetta's Echo After Echo (2017; American Library Association Rainbow List) and The Lost Coast (2019), Hayley Chewins's The Turnaway Girls (2018; American Library Association Amelia Bloomer List, Kirkus Reviews Best Books), and J. Anderson Coats's forthcoming Spindle & Dagger (2020). She also works with authors including Delia Sherman, Celine Kiernan, Alison Croggon, Franny Billingsley, Susann Cokal, Gregory Maguire, and Laura Amy Schlitz.

Miriam spent much of her childhood in an independent bookstore (shout out to Lift Bridge Book Store in Brockport, NY); studied English, Religion, and Medieval Studies at Swarthmore College; and did stints at the Jewish Publication Society, Lee & Low Books, and Writers House before finding her publishing home at Candlewick. She is also an English Country Dance caller and occasional choreographer. Miriam lives near Boston with her spouse and baby.
