John P. Murphy is a short fiction author whose work includes the novellas The Liar (The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, 2016; Nebula Award finalist) and Claudius Rex (included in The Year's Best Science Fiction & Fantasy Novellas 2015, Prime Books, 2015). His short fiction has appeared in a number of venues including The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Nature, and The Drabblecast Audio Fiction Podcast.

John attended the Viable Paradise workshop in 2010. He has a PhD in engineering for his work in multi-robot coordination and control.
