James Maxey is the author of the dragon-fantasy novel Bitterwood (2007, Solaris Books). His previous novel was the cult-classic superhero tale Nobody Gets the Girl (2003, Phobos Books). His short stories can be found in nearly a dozen anthologies including the just released Prime Codex, which reprints “To the East a Bright Star,” which first appeared in Asimov’s. His short story “Empire of Dreams and Miracles” won a Phobos award in 2001. James is a graduate of the Odyssey Fantasy Writers Workshop and Orson Scott Card’s Writers Boot Camp. James lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina, with two cats, two robots, and an imaginary friend.
