Mike Allen wears many creative hats, and at least one of them, tailor-made by his wife and partner-in-crime Anita, features a large bejeweled spider. Together they run Mythic Delirium Books, an imprint that's home to the well-regarded Clockwork Phoenix anthology series and acclaimed fiction books by C.S.E. Cooney, Theodora Goss, Nicole Kornher-Stace, and Barbara Krasnoff. In addition to editing all five Clockwork Phoenix books (2008–2016), Mike edited Mythic Delirium magazine from 1998 to 2018 and, with Anita, co-edited two Mythic Delirium anthologies (2014–2015).

A finalist for the World Fantasy Award, Shirley Jackson Award, and Nebula Award, Mike has written several poetry collections, including Strange Wisdoms of the Dead (Wildside Press, 2006), The Journey to Kailash (Norilana Books, 2008), and Hungry Constellations (Mythic Delirium Books, 2014); a novel, The Black Fire Concerto (Haunted Stars, 2013); and short story collections Unseaming (2014), The Spider Tapestries (2016), and Aftermath of an Industrial Accident (forthcoming 2020).

His short fiction has appeared in Apex Magazine, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Drabblecast, Interzone, Kaleidocast, Not One of Us, PodCastle, Pseudopod, StarShipSofa, Tales to Terrify, Weird Tales, and several anthologies, most recently Transmissions from Punktown (ed. Sammons, Dark Regions Press, 2018). Some of his novelettes and novellas have appeared as standalone chapbooks (2008's Follow the Wounded One, 2015's The Quiltmaker, and The Sky-Riders, also in 2015, co-written with Paul Dellinger).
